I started this blog in 2006. It has seen me through a lot. I have posted from different countries in East and West Africa that I have lived in. It chronicles a huge part of my life. And although I haven't been posting much over this past year, I haven't wanted to let it go. It means too much to me. I have decided that now, for various reasons, I am going to keep posting to this blog. And also be an open book on my years at work in: Tanzania, Uganda, and now Ghana. Clear as mud? Here it is simply:

Challenges of women empowerment in Africa. From wooden plane to drone.

I keep passing the same places with names, which to me appear strange (and not just because my Kiswahili is not among the best ones).

This place- a small truck stop village on the highway between Chalinze and Dar Es Salam in Tanzania-I worked out the literal meaning of the name a while ago: ‘’picture of a plane (or bird)’’
Lakini, kwa nini?
According to local Tanzanian the place is named after this little toy plane which the bar owner put up- and now the whole village is named after this.

My Career, Why do I Blog? and Life lessons.

This is a blog of my professional experience in East Africa. Graduated from AAU in 2005 I have come to work in Gibe II hydroelectric project as Eng. Geologist in surface and underground. I was crazy to understand the forces that affect tunnels, Dams, penstocks, power houses, shafts, the single largest public works project of the time. Then as Geotechnical Engineer, I got to work with Gondwana Engineering Consult, a strong design office, especially in pavement and foundation. Last in Ethiopia I join as Materials Engineer; Keangnam Enterprise Ltd, a South Korean contractor in the rehabilitation of Jimma-Bonga-Mizan road project. Since 2011 I am with an European Contractor doing SUPERPAVE highway Material designs in Tanzania, Uganda and now Ghana.

Why do I Blog?

I see myself as someone who loves to share information, especially if I find that it can uplift and inspire someone else.

Others: Ego satisfaction, meeting real people and Blogger is cheap.
